Alternative Cervical Cancer Treatment Facts & Information
Stop feeling helpless - you still have options!
Cercival cancer is the second most common cancer usually affecting women between age 40 to 55 in the United States. It affects the uterine cervix, which is the portion of the uterus that is attached to the top of the vagina. Since there are usually no symptoms in the beginning stages, most cases of cervical cancer are diagnosed and treated in an advanced stage when the treatment success rate is lower. The incidence of cervical cancer has been declining in the US due to early detection by having regular Pap smears.
Cervical cancer begins as a precancerous lesion called a dysplasia. This stage is treatable usually without a hysterectomy and sometimes resolves on its own without treatment. This is not usually the case though; dysplasia progresses to cancer over many years. If it has progressed to cancer, it usually becomes invasive and spreads quickly.
There are 3 main types of cervical cancers:
1) Squamous cell carcinoma - typically presents as an ulcerated lesion
2) Adenocarcinoma of the cervix - accounts for 5 to 20% of cervical cancer and usually presents as an enlarged barrel-shaped cervix. Adenocarcinomas are becoming more common in women who were born in the last 20 to 30 years.
3) Adenosquamous carcinomas - these are cervical cancer which have both features of squamous cell carcinomas and adenocarcinomas and are less common.
Human papilloma virus (HPV) is the most significant risk factor for cervical cancer. This is an example of where an infection is the cause of cancer and why having a healthy immune system is so important. By keeping the immune system strong, many cases of cervical cancer can be prevented. Other risk factors include having a history of chlamydia, having multiple sexual partners, starting sexual relations at a young age and being a smoker as tobacco by-products have been found in cervical mucus. Cervical cancer seems to be rare in women who are not sexually active. Research has also shown that women who have had many full-term pregnancies also have an increased risk of developing cervical cancer. Women with diets low in fruits and vegetables may also be at increased risk for cervical cancer.
Treatment for cervical cancer can range from surgery to chemotherapy. Treatment depends on the stage of the cancer, the size and shape of the tumor, the age and general health of the woman and her desire to have children in the future. Pre-invasive stages may be completely treated with excisional biopsy, cryosurgery or laser destruction. Invasive squamous cell carcinoma therapy may include hysterectomy and radiation therapy. It is important to seek oncological care as soon as the cancer is diagnoses.

At Sunridge Medical we offer a comprehensive immunobiological treatment program that aims to not only attack the cancer, but also restore the body’s natural defense and regulatory mechanisms including the immune system and detoxification pathways. We offer support through a successfully proven individualized treatment protocol which is based on a blend of traditional medication and advanced, research-based natural medicines. Through this integrated, holistic and comprehensive approach, we are able to identify and treat the underlying causes of the cancer as well as increase the health of the body and improve quality of life. This approach sets us apart from traditional medical clinics and, most importantly, allows for ultimate patient success.
Research has shown that cancer cells develop in every human being. However, just because a cancer cell is produced in the body does not mean that this will lead to the formation of a tumor or subsequent metastasis. Because of the body's natural defense system which consists of an immune surveillance system, a repair mechanism and other regulatory mechanisms that detect newly produced cancer cells, cancer cells are identified and destroyed before they become tumors. As long as this natural defense system is functioning properly, the body is able to protect itself from cancer.
In all cancer patients, the body's natural defense system is not functioning optimally which means that when a cancer cell is present, it is not destroyed and can continue to grow. Knowing this, once diagnosed with cervical cancer, it is very important to make sure that restoration of the body’s natural defense system is included in your cervical cancer treatment program.
It is only through a comprehensive, individualized evaluation of the patient that the contributing factors leading to the cancer occurrence can be identified as they are not the same for each patient, even if they have the same cancer diagnosis. What can some of these contributing factors be? In fact, there can be a number of contributing factors. In addition to some of the well-established risk factors of cervical cancer such as nutritional imbalances, and improper diet, there are other factors that should be given consideration. For example, risk factors such as genetic predisposition, presence of chronic infections, presence of toxicity, psychological and other immune-suppressive factors can also play a significant part in the development of cervical cancer. With this being said, the opposite is also true - if these contributing factors are eliminated, prevention and healing frequently occur.
Research findings in Europe indicate that the course of the disease is not solely determined by the type of cancer cells that are present. It has been shown that no matter what type of cancer is present, the environment in which these cancer cells grow and flourish (the internal environment of the body and the strength of the body’s natural defense systems) plays a significant role in influencing the way in which the disease progresses. This has been demonstrated in numerous studies showing that the incidence of recurrence cancer was reduced dramatically when the patient did things to strengthen their immune system compared to doing nothing.
Although conventional medical treatments such as surgery, radiation and chemotherapy have come a long way in their ability to eradicate cancer cells and tumors, these treatments are aimed only at the destruction of the tumor or malignancy and ignore, and sometimes even aggravate, the underlying disease conditions, which have led to the formation of the cancer in the first place. Unless the cause and preconditions of the initial cancer occurrence are corrected, a high risk of disease progression and recurrence remains. Unfortunately, this is what we commonly see in the current medical system. For example, after receiving only conventional treatment for their cancer, patient's often believe that they are cured and their cancer is in remission only to discover, sometimes only months later, that their cancer is back and more aggressive than it was the first time.

Our Treatment Focus
• Immune system dysfunction- our body’s best defense for cancer. Natural Killer Cells are an important component of the immune system and function specifically to seek out and destroy cancer cells. Research suggests that a compromised immune system is a major contributor to the development of cancer. Based on this information, a new area of study is emerging called Cancer Immunotherapy, which focuses on using the immune system as an effective way to eradicate cancer.
• Nutritional deficiencies Nutrients are essential for the proper functioning of many complicated processes in the body. Nutritional deficiencies are becoming commonplace due to our modern lifestyles. Without the proper nutrition, the body begins to function poorly which results in an environment where cancer is promoted. A number of common nutrients have been shows to be cancer-protective including selenium, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E as well as others.
• Toxic Overload Syndrome (Impaired Detoxification Pathways) In this polluted world it is not difficult for our bodies to accumulate chemicals and other toxins known as carcinogens. These accumulated carcinogens can lead to free-radical damage to our DNA and trigger mutations in the cells resulting in cancer. Here's something to think about - Isn’t chemotherapy a toxic chemical?
• Cellular Mitochondria Dysfunction- The mitochondria is commonly known as the “power house” of cell. Recent research from Harvard Medical School has identified that mutations to oncogenes (by toxins) in the mitochondria can lead to a process called the Warburg Effect. Here, a cell is able to grow uncontrollably by utilizing glucose better and adapting to low oxygen environments whereby avoiding the apoptosis (cellular death) pathway. Treatments aimed at increasing mitochondrial metabolism are essential.
• Low oxygen, high carbon dioxide ratio leads to low pH. This is a consequence of improper mitochondrial respiration and must be treated - otherwise cancer is harder to treat and more likely to return.
• Treatment of inflammation - When the above factors are present, so are inflammatory risk factors. Patients have dramatically better outcomes if their cancer treatment plan addresses inflammation reduction.
• Treatment of infections Recent research has linked the presence of various infections as the trigger of cancer, for example HPV infections and cervical cancer, candida and breast cancer, and Chlamydia and Lymphoma. In these cases, infections are usually present because the immune system is compromised. Because a tumor grows into and disrupts surrounding tissue, decreased circulation to certain areas occur with provides the perfect low-oxygen environment where infections flourish. Data has shown that when the infection is treated, cancer progression stops.
