Germanium is a chemical element found in abundance in the Earth’s crust and is similar in structure to tin. Germanium can be taken intravenously as an alternative cancer treatment. When germanium-132 decays it emits an electron, which helps to kill cancer cells. This treatment has been shown to be effective in treating some types of cancer, though more research is needed to determine its full potential.
