A life-stage transition • symptom relief • long-term health

Menopause & Perimenopause

Menopause is a natural transition, but suffering through disruptive symptoms should not be treated as inevitable.

Sunridge helps women understand what is changing, find relief and protect the foundations of health through midlife and beyond.

You deserve more than “your labs are normal.”

Perimenopause is often recognized by the pattern of cycles and symptoms. Hormone levels may fluctuate, so a single result cannot tell the whole story.

Bring the changes that have been difficult to connect
Cycle changes, hot flashes, night sweats and palpitations
Sleep disruption, anxiety, low mood or cognitive changes
Body-composition, muscle, joint and metabolic concerns
Dryness, urinary changes, painful intimacy or reduced desire

Recognize the Transition in the Whole Person

Some women first notice cycle changes. Others notice sleep disruption, new anxiety, joint discomfort, headaches, palpitations, changes in sexual comfort or an unfamiliar shift in body composition.

Perimenopause

Estrogen and progesterone patterns may become less predictable while periods continue. Symptoms can appear years before the final menstrual period.

Menopause

Menopause is reached after 12 months without a menstrual period when another cause is not responsible.

Surgical or medical menopause

Ovary removal and certain treatments can produce a more abrupt transition that needs its own discussion.

Postmenopause

Symptoms may continue, while bone, muscle, cardiovascular, vaginal, urinary and metabolic health become important long-term priorities.

Ask What Else May Be Amplifying the Symptoms

Thyroid dysfunction, iron deficiency, medication changes, sleep apnea, pain, depression, anxiety, insulin resistance and under-recovery may overlap with menopause. Sunridge evaluates those contributors rather than using menopause to explain everything.

New heavy bleeding, bleeding between periods or any bleeding after menopause deserves timely medical evaluation. Palpitations, chest symptoms, severe mood changes or rapidly progressive symptoms may also require care beyond a routine hormone visit.

Build the Foundations That Hormones Depend On

  • Use adequate protein and progressive strength training to protect muscle and bone
  • Emphasize fiber, plants and appropriate nourishment to support metabolic and digestive health
  • Address alcohol, smoking, sleep disruption and stress patterns that can intensify symptoms
  • Review calcium, vitamin D and bone-health needs according to personal risk
  • Consider botanical or nutrient support for a defined symptom, with medication interactions reviewed
  • Support sexual comfort and pelvic health directly rather than allowing these concerns to remain unspoken

These foundations can stand alone or make hormone therapy part of a more complete plan.

Consider Hormone and Nonhormone Options Without Pressure

The best option depends on the symptom, health history, age, timing, uterus status, personal preference and response.

Systemic support

Estradiol with appropriate uterine protection may be discussed for hot flashes, night sweats and other systemic symptoms.

Local support

Low-dose vaginal options may be considered when dryness, painful intimacy or urinary symptoms are the primary concern.

Nonhormone care

Nutrition, botanicals, mind-body therapies and prescription nonhormone options can be considered according to the goal.

Sexual health

Desire and comfort involve hormones, tissue health, medication effects, pain, sleep, mood and relationship context.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can perimenopause begin while my periods are regular?

Yes. Symptoms can begin before obvious cycle changes, although other causes should also be considered.

Is menopause diagnosed with one hormone test?

Usually not in women over 45 with a typical history. Testing is used selectively when the age, pattern or another possible cause makes it useful.

Can I choose a natural approach without hormone therapy?

Yes. The consultation can compare lifestyle, botanical, nutrient, nonhormone prescription and hormone approaches without assuming one choice is right for everyone.

When should bleeding be evaluated?

New heavy bleeding, bleeding between periods and any bleeding after menopause should be discussed promptly with an appropriate clinician.
