Lactate Dehydrogenase Isoenzyme Panel
Quest DiagnosticsCatalog information reviewed: August 24, 2026 by the Sunridge Medical clinical team.
What this laboratory test evaluates
DetailsLactate Dehydrogenase (LD) Isoenzyme Panel – Lactate dehydrogenase (LD) is present in many different organs and tissues such as liver, heart, muscles, kidney, lungs and blood. The usual designation of isoenzymes is LD-I, LD-II, LD-III, LD-IV and LD-V. LD isoenzymes tissue specificity is derived from the fact that LD subunits are synthesized in well-defined ratios and could be used in investigating unexplained causes of Total LD elevations and detection of macro-LD. Do not use LD isoenzymes to detect myocardial injury.
What type of sample is required for this test?2 mL serum collected in a serum separator tube (SST)

How Sunridge uses laboratory information
Sunridge considers the medical question, symptoms, history, medications, prior results, and whether the finding could change care before recommending testing. A laboratory result is not interpreted in isolation and does not establish a diagnosis by itself.
Before requesting this test
Availability, collection requirements, eligibility, and processing estimates can change. Sunridge reviews each request and, when appropriate, creates the order through Fullscript. Follow the current instructions supplied with the approved order.
