This test is used to detect Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). SIBO occurs when bacteria enter the small intestine at levels greater than 1000 organisms/mL. Patients with bacterial overgrowth typically develop symptoms including nausea, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, malnutrition, weight loss, and malabsorption.
Substrate
This test does not come with a substrate. You must prescribe the lactulose substrate to your patient separately. If you cannot prescribe lactulose, please order the SIBO Breath Teat – Glucose.
